The class structure provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of oil painting, covering a range of subjects and techniques. Students will have the opportunity to practice and apply their skills through hands-on exercises and painting projects. The final class focuses on helping students discover and refine their personal artistic style.

**Class 1: Introduction to Oil Painting**

- Overview of oil painting medium, historical context, and artistic styles

- Materials and equipment needed (paints, brushes, canvases, palettes, etc.)

- Color theory and mixing techniques

**Class 2:

- Establishing composition and values

**Class 3: Painting Still Life**

- Observational drawing and painting techniques

- Rendering form, texture, and lighting

- Developing a cohesive color palette

**Class 4: Painting Landscapes**

- Capturing atmospheric perspective and depth

- Depicting natural elements (sky, trees, water, etc.)

- Plein air painting techniques (optional outdoor session)

**Class 5: Painting Portraits**

- Proportions and anatomy of the human face

- Capturing likeness and expression

- Techniques for rendering skin tones and facial features

**Class 6: Developing Personal Style**

- Exploring individual creative expression

- Experimenting with different brushwork and painting styles

- Guidance on developing a personal artistic voice
