This workshop will teach students to make Traditional Tempera Painting & Gold Gilding. Traditional Tempera, also known as egg tempera, was a primary method of painting until after 1500 when it was superseded by oil painting. This painting medium is permanent, fast-drying consisting of colored pigments mixed with a water-soluble binder. Tempera paintings are very long-lasting, and examples from the first century AD still exist. Gold gilding is a decorative technique for applying a very thin coating of gold over solid surfaces. In this course, we will be using 98% pure gold leaf and burnishing it into a very shiny glamorous appearance with the traditional method. This workshop is suitable for anyone who loves the golden effect and or is interested in materials and techniques.

Chiaoyun is a versatile artist and art teacher based in Taipei. She is specialized in many different painting materials and techniques, including Western and Chinese, modern and traditional practices. Graduated from the Master of Fine Arts, National Taiwan Normal University, Institute of M.F.A in 2021.
