In this three-day workshop, Shingo Takeuchi will teach his masterful technique of the coiling method using stoneware clay. Shingo Takeuchi is a renowned ceramic artist from Seto, he creates alien forms with interlocking ridges with shadows to create artwork with a sense of futurism.
Born in 1955 in Seto, He started his studio in 1982. In his modeling process, curved surfaces and sharp corners are interlaced to create a round and sharp multi-shaped surface that resembles 3D-generated aliens from the future. The dynamic forms are a stark contrast to reality. Intertwined and connected, every angle presents a different new form and endows a sense of power.
His works are the results of artistic ideas that are transformed into reality by fine craftsmanship and become his unique and iconic pottery art language.
“Respect and be in awe of nature, for life is part of it. You will be rewarded with great work if you always keep up to your standards.” - Shingo Takeuchi
